The significance of cushions in home decor holds no secrets. In fact, for most people, decorating with these elements is a common and almost routine practice since they give us the possibility to change our decor by just varying a couple of details, textures or colors.
In this journal entry, we want to give you some helpful advice for style your home with our unique cushions, and to do this, we will base these recommendations on the decoration of sofas and living rooms. Needless to say, these recommendations can be extrapolated to any room in our home, and we can also take risks in our decoration by bringing cushions to less common areas such as terraces.
A common dilemma involves choosing between solid-colored fabric cushions and patterned textiles. While plain fabric cushions tend to have vivid colors, patterned cushions are usually more subdued, attempting to maintain balance with the rest of the room. Natural colors are usually a good option, specially if we have a space with monotonous and neutral decor since we can add touches of color without overcrowding the room. By using textured cushions, we create focal points that will capture the attention of our guests. In this way, we must be careful not to overload our space excessively.
How many cushions should I use?
Although in many situations "less is more", it is important to prioritize a balance rather than the number of cushions that we can incorporate in a space. Although we can use a larger number, a combination of between three and five cushions will ensure that the decoration will be complete enough without creating a feeling of excess.
When placing the cushions on sofas, it is important to take into account their size always giving priority to the visibility of the smaller ones since large cushions will stand out on their own. In the same way, we must always keep in mind the size of the sofa we want to decorate. Larger furniture will require a larger number of cushions while individual armchairs will need no more than two cushions, depending on the size.
